PA system installation in Mildenhall and Suffolk

When a message has to reach everyone in a building or across a site, it needs to be heard clearly, not just loudly. Solarsat designs and installs PA systems for businesses and venues around Mildenhall, covering large indoor spaces and outdoor areas with announcements people can actually understand.

Clarity before volume

The most common complaint about a poor PA system is not that it is too quiet but that nobody can make out the words. Hard walls, high ceilings and open warehouse floors create echoes that blur speech, and a few loud speakers at one end of a space leave some areas deafening and others inaudible.

Good coverage comes from more speakers at a sensible level, placed so everyone is reasonably close to one. The type of speaker matters too: ceiling speakers suit offices and shops, horn speakers project over noisy industrial floors, and weatherproof units handle yards, car parks and outdoor seating areas.

Some spaces need a mix. A warehouse with an office mezzanine, a shop with a yard behind it or a venue with a terrace may each need different speaker types working on the same system.

Where PA systems are used

  • Offices

Announcements, paging staff to reception and quiet background music in communal areas.

  • Warehouses and industrial units

Messages that cut through machinery noise across a large floor and into loading bays.

  • Shops and showrooms

Background music at a comfortable level with the ability to make store-wide announcements.

  • Venues and halls

Speech for events, functions and meetings, with microphones for speakers and presenters.

  • Schools and community buildings

Announcements across classrooms, halls and playgrounds, with music for events.

  • Outdoor areas

Yards, gardens, terraces and sports areas covered by speakers built to withstand the weather.

Zones and volume

Dividing a site into zones lets you send messages only where they are needed. A warehouse call need not interrupt the office, and music can play in the shop while the stockroom stays quiet. Each zone can have its own volume so levels suit the noise and the people in that area.

Zones are planned around how the building is used: where staff work, where customers are, which areas are noisy and which need to stay calm. Getting this right at design stage avoids a system that is either too loud for some people or ignored by everyone else.

Priority settings decide what happens when two things occur at once, so an announcement always cuts through background music and an urgent message can reach every zone together.

Microphones, music and control

Most systems have a paging microphone at reception or in an office, often with buttons to choose which zones hear the message. Venues and halls may add handheld or lapel microphones for speakers and presenters, connected by cable or wirelessly.

Wireless microphones are convenient in halls and function rooms, but their frequencies and batteries need managing, so we set them up and show staff how to keep them ready.

Background music can come from a streaming device, a computer or another source, played through the same speakers at a level that suits each zone. Control can be as simple as a wall-mounted volume knob in each area or a central panel that lets one person run the whole system.

A chime before each announcement helps catch attention, and pre-recorded messages can handle routine notices such as closing times, so staff do not have to repeat them by hand.

Planning the installation

We start by understanding what the system is for, how large the spaces are, how noisy they get and who will use it. From there we plan speaker positions, cable routes, amplifier location and controls, and we aim to keep disruption to your business to a minimum.

Amplifiers and sources usually live in a cabinet in an office or comms room, with cables to each zone kept tidy and labelled for future changes. If you want a PA to form part of your evacuation procedures, mention it at the start, as specialist life safety standards apply to those systems.

Once installed, the system is set and balanced in each zone, and we show your team how to make announcements and adjust levels. If you need presentation screens or video conferencing as well, our commercial AV service covers those too.
