Starlink installation in Mildenhall and Suffolk

When the fixed line to your property cannot keep up, Starlink can be the answer. Solarsat positions the dish, brings the cable into the building and makes sure the connection reaches the rooms and outbuildings where you need it, for homes and businesses within a 20-mile radius of Mildenhall.

Phones and email Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6pm. Showroom visits by appointment.

Who Starlink suits

Starlink is worth considering when the broadband you have today is holding you back. Typical signs are a connection that slows to a crawl in the evening, video calls that freeze, or a line that drops out every time the weather turns. It is common on farms, in small hamlets and at properties on the end of a long copper line, where the nearest cabinet is simply too far away.

It can also make sense as a second connection. A business that relies on card payments, cloud software or remote cameras may want a backup that does not depend on the same cable in the ground. If you are unsure whether Starlink will help at your address, that is exactly what our connectivity check is for.

Holiday lets, equestrian yards and rural workshops are other good examples, especially where guests or staff expect Wi-Fi that simply works.

Finding the right spot for the dish

Starlink needs a clear view of the sky. Trees, chimneys, roof ridges and neighbouring buildings can all block part of that view and cause short interruptions, so position matters more than anything else in the installation. We look at the whole property, not just the most convenient wall, and allow for trees that fill out over the summer.

Depending on what we find, the dish can go on a wall bracket, on the roof or on a pole that lifts it above obstructions. We also weigh up how the dish will look from the house and the road, how easy it is to reach for future work, and how far the cable has to travel to get inside.

Before any fixing goes in, we check the view from the proposed position so you know what to expect. If no single spot is clear, we explain the compromise honestly, whether that is a taller pole, a different side of the property or another type of connection altogether.

Bringing the cable indoors

A tidy cable route is what separates a proper installation from a dish balanced in the garden. We plan the route before drilling anything.

  • Discreet outside runs

Cable follows gutters, eaves and corners where it is least visible, clipped securely so it does not flap or chafe in the wind.

  • Sealed entry points

Holes through the wall are kept as small as practical and sealed afterwards to keep out water and draughts.

  • A central router

The router goes somewhere central where possible, rather than in a corner by the front door, so the signal has a better start.

  • Power and protection

The power supply sits indoors near the router, and the cable is kept away from sharp edges, hot flues and anywhere it could be trodden on or chewed.

Reaching the whole property

One router rarely covers a large farmhouse, a long bungalow or a building with thick old walls. Once the Starlink connection is in, we can add access points so every room gets a usable signal, with network cable back to each one wherever the building allows.

Barns, workshops, stables and garden offices are a frequent request. Where digging a trench is impractical, a point-to-point wireless bridge can carry the connection across a yard or field to a second building. From there we add Wi-Fi inside or outdoors, so cameras, gate intercoms and laptops all have something to connect to.

Starlink or 4G and 5G?

Starlink is not the only alternative to a slow fixed line. 4G and 5G broadband use the mobile networks with an external antenna, and at addresses with strong mobile coverage they can be the simpler choice. Starlink tends to come into its own where the mobile signal is weak or patchy, provided there is plenty of open sky.

Send us your postcode and we will look at the best connectivity option for your location, free of charge. We will tell you honestly which approach is likely to work better at your address before you commit to anything.
